City Police

Greencastle City Police investigated a pair of shoplifting incidents Thursday at the WalMart store on Indianapolis Road.

Officer Ed Wilson was called to the store at 7:15 p.m. and arrested Joanna Mae Hood, 19, Greencastle, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on preliminary charges of felony theft and misdemeanor criminal conversion.

Hood reportedly took $139.28 worth of merchandise without paying for it. Among the items she allegedly took were beauty items, a bandana, shirt, gloves, capri pants and other clothing.

In an incident reported at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Sharon Garretson, 41, Greencastle, allegedly took beauty products valued at $39.65, Sgt. Chris Jones said.

Garretson reportedly paid for some items but put unpaid-for merchandise in her purse and attempted to leave the store. Garretson will be summoned into court on shoplifting charges.

GPD officers also investigated two residential theft incidents.

At 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Officer Wilson was called to 649 E. Walnut St. where Josh Dobbs reported his mini-barn had been broken into.

Taken in the incident were a custom-racing bicycle, valued at $800; an Echo leaf blower, valued at $400; and a Honda pressure washer, valued at $400.

Theft and residential entry were also reported at 608 Howard St. Sgt. Jones investigated the South End incident on March 28.

While the occupants of the home, Nicole Ayers, 35, Charles Carter Jr., 38, and Cody Wireman, 19, were away, someone entered the residence and took a variety of items, police said.

Among the items stolen were several pieces of jewelry, guns, a laptop computer, a cordless drill, coins and prescription drugs. No total estimated value was available.

The investigation has been turned over to GPD Det. Capt. Randy Seipel.

Sheriff's Department

* March 30, 1:21 p.m.: Timothy B. McAninch, 53, Poland, was eastbound on SR 42 in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt and went into the westbound lane in a no-passing zone. He crossed into the path of Charles T. Cundiff, 73, Cloverdale, in a 2006 Buick, striking Cundiff's vehicle head on.

No injuries were reported, but both vehicles were towed. Damage $5,001-$10,000.

Richard William Sawyer, 44, Cloverdale: Possession of a controlled substance (2 counts), possession of paraphernalia, March 31, 7:21 p.m.

Brian Scott Tesserau, 37, Mooresville: Nonsupport of a dependent, March 31, 8:30 p.m.

Kevin Steven Warrick, 38, Brazil: Check deception, March 31, 5:55 p.m.

April 1, 1:44 p.m.: Lift assist at 1125 Avenue D. Cleared 2:08 p.m.
