Sharon Ann Bowles

Mrs. Sharon Ann Bowles, 74, Greencastle, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Putnam County Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1936 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of George and Vera (Beswick) Martin.

Sharon was employed as postmaster relief at Putnamville Post Office for 16 years. Sharon was a member of the Big Red One Society, the Women's Auxiliary of the National American Legion and served as secretary with the Indiana Country Music Association where she was an accomplished singer.

She was a military wife of 24 years, serving as a greeter at several military posts. Her biggest and greatest role in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her family; her husband, Frank Bowles, whom she married on May 6, 1958; her mother, Vera Marshall of Greencastle; children, Debbie (Tom) Lehman of Bruceville, Freida Crowe of Washington, Tony (Geann) Bowles of Brazil, Phillip (Debbie) Bowles of Bridgeton, Angela (Brian) Letourneau of Brazil, and Renita (George) Scott of Putnamville, and 56 grand children and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, George W. Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of service on Friday.
