Eagles battle Northview, Owen Valley on the track

BRAZIL -- The South Putnam coed track teams traveled to Northview Thursday to face the Knights and Owen Valley. The girls won in a close contest with Northview 67-66, while the boys were third behind Northview (82 pts.) and Owen Valley (55 pts.) with 30 points.

Mallory Glaze won two events on the night for South Putnam. She won the 1,600 meters in a time of 6:15.83 and the 3,200 meters in a time of 13:50.71. Makayla Albers won the 400-meter dash in 1:10.36 and Sarah Cheatham won the 300-meter low hurdles in a time of 59.17.

Aubrey Nichols took the top spot in the 800-meter run in 2:57.24 and Josie Farmer won the 200-meter dash in 28.55. Kelsey Searles captured the shot put event with a toss of 28-feet-8.5-inches. The 3,200-meter relay team won with a time of 11:54.

For the boys, Ryan Chestnut was the lone winner on the night taking the shot put event with a throw of 45-feet-5.5-inches.
