19th Annual Mountain Man Rendezvous set

BRIDGETON -- The Parke County town of Bridgeton will host its 19th annual Mountain Man Rendezvous from April 30 to May1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Visitors can enjoy a taste of authentic pre-1840s living in a historic setting with a Mountain Man encampment complete with trading posts and pioneer goods for sale. Visitors can also watch live black powder muzzleloader shooting, a primitive bow shoot, a canoe race on Raccoon Creek and demonstrations of knife- and tomahawk-throwing.

The Bridgeton Volunteer Fire Dept. will have a Jonah Fish Fry Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the new firehouse.

The Bridgeton Grist Mill will be open for a live 1800s corn grinding demonstration and some fresh stone-ground Parke County products.

No admission charges to any of these events.
