North Putnam performs 'Willy Wonka' on Friday

Oompa Loompas (from left to right: Lauren Freije, Hailey Duncan, Alexandra Moore, Audrey Barger, Cody Storkman, Rachael Lubinksi, Alexis Mason) will play a big role in North Putnam's "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka," which begins on Friday.

The North Putnam High School Music Department will be presenting "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka" on Friday and Saturday. The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. each night in the gymnasium of North Putnam High School. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.

"Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka" follows five children as they find golden tickets in order to tour the factory of Willy Wonka (Kyle Cunningham). The other children include Augustus Gloop (Andrew Rude) with his mother, Mrs. Gloop (Emmy Rees), Veruca Salt (Samantha Flannelly) with her father, Mr. Salt (Colton Cox), Violet Beauregarde (Jenna Olson) with her mother, Mrs. Beauregarde (Taylor Badten), Mike Teavee (Drew Peebles) with his mother, Ms. Teavee (Rebekah Thomas), and Charlie Bucket (Dawson Ottinger).

Charlie Bucket's family includes Mrs. Bucket (Ellese Cox), Mr. Bucket (Alan Skillern), Grandpa Joe (Eli Klein), Grandpa George (Glen Schmick), Grandma Josephine (Cheyanne Elliott) and Grandma Georgina (Rachel Kientz).

To round out the cast of characters, there will be Candy Man (Nic Stanley) and Phineous Trout (Gwen Mazur).

Supporting the cast are Townspeople and Oompa-Loompas, played by Elizabeth Alford, Audrey Barger, Jerica Bean, Tasha Brewer, Madison Carnes, Cassie Clark, Hailey Duncan, Lauren Freije, Jessica Games, Justine Harlan, Brittany Higgins, Samantha Jarboe, Rachael Lubinksi, Taylor MacGruder, Alexis Mason, Natalie McFadden, Alexandra Moore, Amy Olson, Anna Ottinger, Callie Parrish, Cody Storkman, Taylor Styers and Lacy Taylor.

Kelly Thomas will be producing the show and Kate Robertson will be directing it. Thomas also serves as the vocal director and choreographer. Kathi Elliott will play the piano with orchestral accompaniment under the direction of Rachel Pierce and John Pinson. Linda Gjesvold is the set designer and technical director for the show.

Jamaica Rees and Wednesday Rees will be in charge of sound. Sound effects will be provided by Colton Smith.

Micayla Jones and Christina Lewark will run the lights, and Jesse MacGruder will run the spotlight. Stage crew will be DJ Hubbard and Richard Elliott.
