Howard 'Dick' VanHook

Howard "Dick" Van Hook, 73, Russellville died Wednesday, May 3, 2011 at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle.

He was born to Howard W. and Francis Branson VanHook April 7, 1938 at Mecca.

He married Shirley Biggs on Dec. 5, 1953 at Rockville and she survives.

He was a member of Greencastle Moose, Indiana Mustang and Burro Club.

He was retired as superintendent of Putnam County Home.

He is survived by his wife; son Tony (Tressa) VanHook; daughters Debbie Bartelt and Alice (Pat) Morrell; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and stepsister Eva Thompson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home at Waveland with Rev. Kathy Elliott officiating. Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Friday with burial in Russellville Cemetery.
