Mildred L. Butts

Mrs. Mildred Lorene Butts, 92, Greencastle, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Asbury Towers.

Born June 10, 1918 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Evert and Christina (Kendall) Moore. She attended Crossroads Putnamville and Greencastle Schools and married Archie Butts on Nov. 29, 1936 in Paris, Ill., he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1975.

Mildred had worked for P.R. Mallory in Greencastle for 23 years and had attended the Hanna St. Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Roy (Barbara) Butts of Logansport and Richard L. Butts of Reelsville; daughters, Jean (Tom) Baker and Judy K. (Harold) Murphy, both of Greencastle; a brother, David Moore of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Margaret Reid of Arkansas and Helen Sutherlin of Greencastle; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; two sisters, Ruth Moore and Mary Blumer; three brothers, Lloyd, William and Gene Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Interment to follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
