Putnam County tobacco program offering sponsorships

Monday, May 16, 2011

The Putnam County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition announced today that it is accepting applications for sponsorship of community programs.

The coalition is interested in public and youth-oriented activities that will help spread the message of tobacco cessation.

"We want to be involved with groups and organizations that are serving Putnam County while contributing to the welfare of our community," Chris Shuck, director of the Tobacco Cessation Program, said. "We have a unique opportunity right now to offer sponsorships to groups that are working with children, especially, but we want to reach out to adults also."

Applications for sponsorship will be open until May 31, when they will be reviewed by the coalition.

"I wish we could sponsor every program in the county," Shuck said. "We don't have a lot of money to give, but we can certainly offer what we do have to programs that need it!"

Anyone interested in applying for a sponsorship from the Putnam County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation program may contact Shuck at 655-2697 or send an email to chris@cfiy.org.
