Abraham L. Lewis, 78, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011.

He was born on March 29, 1933, in Greencastle to Louisa Ellen Chunn Lewis and Jonathan Orlando Lewis.

Mr. Lewis served his country in the U.S. Army as a cook. He retired from General Motors after 31 years of service as a welder.

Mr. Lewis will be remembered as being an avid mushroom hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings, Perry, Arlando, Eldon, Mildred, Zella, Virginia, Cleo, Irene and Loretta; and one grandson, Jeffrey Stewart.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Mable M. Ivey Lewis; nine children, Bradley Lewis of Greencastle, Darlena Patterson and husband Rod of Greencastle, Terry Stewart and husband Randy of Missouri, Mark Lewis and wife Anna of Greencastle, Anna Lewis and husband Mark of Greencastle, Sheila Ash and companion Marty Handy of Greencastle, Michelle Ash and husband Mike of Greencastle, Jennifer Ritchey and husband Jason of Greencastle, Shante Ford and husband Rick of Greencastle; two sisters, Willena Sims and Norvetta Williams; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
