Ila L. 'Bunny' Hammond

Ila L. "Bunny" Hammond, 72, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1939 in Millington, Ill. to Charles W. McPherson and Zena Hackler McPherson.

Mrs. Hammond had been employed at Branagin Oil Company as the office manager, and served as the house mother at Pi Beta Phi for 10 years.

Bunny was a member of the Women of The Moose, where she served in various capacities including secretary, treasurer, recorder and chaplain. A senior regent, she received her Academy of Friendship in 1994, College of Regents in 1996 and Star Recorder in 2010.

She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 31 years, Ray W. Hammond; two sons, William Hammond and Mickey Hammond; a half sister, Vicky; and two brothers, Bob McPherson and Ronnie McPherson.

Surviving are her children, Alicia Linton and husband Steve of Greencastle, Rex Hammond of Bain-bridge, and Tami Hammond of Greencas-tle; five step-children, Gayle Hammond, Mike Hammond, Jon Ham-mond, Shari Ward, and Darlene Lewis; four sisters, Wanda and husband Earl, Teresa, Sandra, and Debbie; one grandson, Dylan Linton; and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with a Women of The Moose walk thru at 7 p.m.

Bunny has requested memorials be made to Moose Heart or Moose Haven. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
