Mrs. Louise Fern Thomas, 80, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

Born Jan. 18, 1931 in Greencas-tle, she was the daughter of Lewis and Nettie Opal (Kendall) Dillion and attended the No. 10 School of Putnam County.

Louise had been a dietician with the Putnam County Hospital, retiring in the early '80s; she previously taught at Putnam County Headstart and worked at DePauw University. She was a member of the Pocahontas Indian Heritage Organization.

Survivors include her children, Donald A. (Wanda) Thomas of Reelsville, Virginia A. (Marvin) Smith of Oklahoma, Geraldine P. (Jerry) Norman, Sharon S. (Don) Jellison, Randall L. (Jeannie) Thomas, James W. (Tracey) Thomas, Candy J. (James) Robinson, all of Greencastle, and Mark K. (friend, Mike Cagle) Thomas of Reelsville; a sister, Beulah Jean York of Texas; a brother, Robert Leonard; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Dillion and Lester and Opal Leonard; and brothers, Bud and Jack Curtis Leonard.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Ernie Phillips officiating, interment will follow at the Little Walnut Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
