Irma 'Rean' Lorean Thomas

Irma "Rean" Lorean Thomas, 94, of Bradenton, Fla. and formerly of Greencastle, passed away at Asbury Towers in Greencastle on Thursday, May 26, 2011.

She was born in Brazil on March 13, 1917 the daughter of Richard Abel Stallcop and Nellie Rose (Spurr) Stallcop-Moxin.

On Jan. 19, 1947 she married Wendell W. Thomas, who preceded her in death in 2009. Rean worked as a trade cosmetologist in Greencastle before she and Wendell moved to Bradenton. They lived in Bradenton for 15 years.

While in Bradenton, they attended the Central Christian Disciples of Christ Church where they were both active in church activities. In 2007 they moved back to Greencastle and have been residents of Asbury Towers since that time.

In the past Rean and Wendell enjoyed square dancing. She also enjoyed making and collecting porcelain dolls and sewing.

Rean was a member of the Manatee Heritage Doll Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Rean is survived by her son, Frank Thomas of Bradenton; grandchildren, Kassandra Thomas of Atlanta and Brooke L. Thomas of Kalamazoo, Mich., as well as a sister, Louise Ends of Brazil, and many extended family members.

Services will be at French Funeral Home, Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Paul Champion officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services.
