Wednesday, June 8, 2011

DANVILLE -- Plans are under way for an event coming to Hendricks County on June 25. Team entries are still available for the Park2Park Relay Race, which encompasses 60 miles from McCloud Nature Park in North Salem to the new Sodalis Park just south of Plainfield.

Six-person teams can enter and each team member runs three "legs" for a total of eight to 11 miles.

"This is one of only a handful of long-distance race relays in the state of Indiana," said Jaime Bohler Smith of the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau (HCCVB). "It's exciting that these runners will get to go through some of the most beautiful and scenic parks in Hendricks County."

Registration ends Friday, June 10. Each team that registers gets a free tech shirt per person, which is a $100 value. The race takes place on paved roads, and paved and unpaved trails. Divisions include Open, Mixed, Corporate, Men, Women, Women's Masters, Men's Masters and Mixed Masters. The event ends with a post-race celebration at Sodalis Park.

The event is being organized by the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County (PFOHC).
