City Police

Two men were arrested on drug-related charges Wednesday night after their vehicle was stopped for having an inoperable taillight.

Officer Eric Vaughan pulled the vehicle over at First Street and Millpond Drive at 10:17 p.m., arresting Jacob Skinner, 28, Greencastle, and Robert Allen Jones, 32, Pittsboro. Both men were lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Skinner was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Jones was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and possession of stolen property (a bicycle).

Officer Vaughan was assisted at the scene by Capt. Charles Inman and Deputy Ronnie Campbell of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Four traffic citations were issued Thursday morning to drivers police said had disregarded the "road closed" sign on Percy Julian Drive, drove around the barricade and traveled through the ongoing construction zone.

Cited for disregarding a traffic control device were:

-- Jessica Whitt, 29, Cloverdale, at 6:43 a.m.

-- Katrina Coahran, 37, Brazil, at 6:52 a.m.

-- Barbara South, 62, Bainbridge, at 8:27 a.m.

-- Daniel Barker, 63, Rockville, at 8:40 a.m.

A hit-and-run accident at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday was investigated by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Murali Chakraborty, 67, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., was westbound on Indianapolis Road, driving a 2000 Toyota Sienna, when his vehicle was reportedly sideswiped by a car entering the center lane westbound after turning out of Judson Drive. The other car then fled the scene.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

The suspect vehicle was described as a blue minivan, possibly a Chevrolet, being driven by a white male.

A three-vehicle accident was reported at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday on Round Barn Road, 100 feet north of Indianapolis Road.

Mark Dickerson, 44, Greencastle, was pulling out of Gas America in a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass when he reportedly did not see a 2008 Toyota Yaris, driven northbound on Round Barn Road by Mariko Lopez, 31, Greencastle, and a collision occurred.

The resulting impact caused the Lopez vehicle to be sandwiched between the Dickerson car and a 2006 Ford F-150 truck, driven by Donald Schilling Sr., 60, Bainbridge, that was stopped at the Round Barn Road access to Putnam Plaza.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000 by Capt. Inman.

Christopher Lee Dixie, 27, Greencastle: Sale of cocaine (3 counts), June 8, 1:54 p.m.

Carrie Lynn Biddle, 28, Crawfordsville: Probation violation, June 8, 11:30 a.m.

Sheriff's Department

* June 7, 5:40 a.m.: Elia Moody, 44, Greencastle, was northwest bound on CR 275 East approaching a curve in a 2007 Dodge Caliber.

She said an animal was in the road, so she swerved right, hitting a tree.

Moody was treated for pain in her chest.

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

Archie Horton, 36, no city listed: Probation violation, June 8, 2:21 p.m.
