Georgia C. Bacon

Georgia C. Bacon, 85, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Sept. 24, 1925 in Cloverdale and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Cora Dell (Lewis) Whitaker.

She was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ and had been a cook and housekeeper for the Hendricks County Nursing Home.

She is survived by her children, Cora Spires and husband Steve, Bedford, Wilma Matney and husband Bryan, Plainfield, Garnet Bacon, Plainfield, Goldie Watts and husband Ron, Fillmore, Jeannie Burdine and husband Clifford, Plainfield, Woody Bacon and wife Julie, Amo, Leroy Bacon and wife Bonnie, Plainfield, Mike Bacon, Plainfield and Danny Wayne Bacon, Greencastle, her sister, Goldie Whitaker, Gosport, 17 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Garnet Gamble, her brothers, Frank, Alton, Everett, Joseph Leander, Howard and Forrest "Jack" Whitaker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
