Dine with a Doc features dietician Jamie Downen

Friday, July 1, 2011

Senior Education Ministries has scheduled Dine with a Doc Greencastle Wednesday, July 20 from 10 a.m.-noon at First National Bank in Greencastle.

This month's speaker will be Jamie Downen, registered dietician with Putnam County Hospital.

Downen presents this month's program after multiple requests to have her speak. She attended Central Michigan University and completed her undergraduate studies in both dietetics and food science. She attended Michigan State University to pursue her graduate work in human nutrition and dietetics and completed her internship there in 2001.

She worked in a large hospital in Michigan for two years and then moved to Texas where she worked at a heart hospital for three years. She has been in Indiana for six years and has worked here for three years. Her passion is in clinical dietetics and diabetes. A question/answer period will follow her discussion.

A complimentary brunch will be courtesy of Putnam County Hospital.

Dine with a Doc is a free event that welcomes the local senior public to getting to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary breakfast. There is no need to bring any money. Just bring a questioning mind, an appetite and perhaps a friend. This program is a community effort of a doctor, a lunch sponsor, area businesses, a local church in the community and the senior citizens coming together for the good of all to serve our seniors.

Reservations are requested and can be made by contacting Senior Education Ministries toll free at 1-877-223-6109.
