Stephen Edward McClure, 46, of Plant City, Fla., passed away in a peaceful sleep on Saturday, July 2, 2011.

He was born on May 10, 1965 in Greencastle. After graduating from South Putnam High School in 1983, he joined the U.S. Army from October 1984 to October 1987 as a transportation specialist in the 197th Support Battalion.

He then relocated to Florida and worked for Hussmann Refrigeration. He soon started a successful independent contractor/handyman business with a close friend, Tony Zappia. He was most recently working for Colliers Arnold as a lead maintenance engineer.

Those who knew him remember Steve as the life of the party -- fun loving, carefree, witty and full of jokes. Steve was a loving son, brother, and uncle who would do anything for his friends and family, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Albert and Jo Ann McClure; his two brothers, Mike McClure and wife Linda of Fishers and Kenny McClure and wife Brenda of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; his three nieces, Holly, Whitney and Amy; his nephew Andrew; and his great-niece Adleigh.

Memorial Services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at the North Lakeland Presbyterian Church. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers in Steve's name to your local Humane Society.
