Remembering a Hero

Saturday, July 9, 2011
The American flag flew at half-staff Friday at the Owen Community Bank in Cloverdale in honor of fallen Cloverdale soldier SPC.E-4 James A. Waters, the 21-year-old son of Garry and Valerie Waters. Cloverdale officials have asked that flags in their town to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday in his honor. The soldier's body was returned to Indiana from Dover (Del.) Air Force Base Friday afternoon with a hearse-led procession taking it from the Indianapolis Airport to Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Whiteland High School.

  • I would hope that all the flags in Putnam County are lowered as well.

  • It's pretty sad that Cloverdale officials asked everyone to lower their flag and they couldn't even do it themselves at the town hall.
