Dorothy Dee Vaughan

Mrs. Dorothy Dee Vaughan, 82, of Greencastle, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Putnam County Hospital.

Born Feb. 17, 1929 in Belle Union, she was the daughter of Cecil Ray and Zelma Gladys (Fisher) Phillips and a graduate of Belle Union High School class of 1947. She married Grover A. Vaughan on Dec. 18, 1948 and he survives.

Dorothy had been a dental assistant for over 30 years, working at Dr. Perry Wainman's office, until her retirement.

Survivors include her husband, Grover A. Vaughan; sons, Larry (Teresa) Vaughan of Greencastle and R. Mark (Suzanne) Vaughan of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Carol Milender of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Julie Milender, Shannon Milender, Brandon Vaughan, Eric Vaughan, Nicole Eickhoff, Zachary Vaughan and Taylor Vaughan; six great-grandchildren, Thaddeous and Caedmon Vaughan, Parker Parrish, Tyler Eickhoff, Nakyhia and Jacie Vaughan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Laverne M. Phillips Wells, Mary Katherine Phillips Deem and Hilda Bernadine Phillips; two brothers, Charles M. and Leon Ray Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
