Marion L. "Midge" Goodman

Mr. Marion L. "Midge" Goodman, 84, of Greencastle, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011.

He was born on April 12, 1927 in Greencastle the son of Charles and Daisy Florence (Carrington) Goodman and a 1946 Greencastle High School graduate. He married Juanita (Tharp) Goodman on July 27, 1946 and she survives.

Marion was a member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church, Greencastle. He was also a member and past president of the Lions Club. He worked at the Pack house, and later as an assistant foreman as a shipping clerk at Lonestar Industries from 1946 until retiring in 1989.

Surviving are his wife Juanita; children Lynn (Jerry) Winkler of Reelsville, Gary (Beth) Goodman of South Carolina, Vickie (Dan) Smith of Greencastle and Larry Goodman (fiancée Carmen Spencer) of Greencastle; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Floyd, Emmett, Harold, Chester, Cecil, William, Robert, Donald and James Goodman; and sisters Elsie Stites, Evelyn Faller and Mary Pettit.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Revs. Patrick Smith and Paul Bowen officiating with burial to follow at New Providence Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
