Kenneth 'Shorty' Stewart

Kenneth "Shorty" Stewart, 66, of Brazil, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 following injuries sustained from an accident by his home on US 40.

He was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Putnam County to Floyd Harold and Dorothy (Siner) Stewart. Kenny graduated from Reelsville High School then served in the United States Army. While serving his country he was stationed in Germany.

Kenny married Beverly Gallez on March 22, 1980.

Kenny worked on the tie gangs for Pennsylvania and Penn Central Railroad in his early career. He was promoted to heavy equipment operator for Con-Rail, and most recently work for CSX at their Avon Big 4 Yard. After retiring from the railroad Kenny began delivering pizza for Pizza Hut.

Kenny had volunteered as a coach for his kids' sporting events. He regularly attended Martz Community Church. While working for the railroad Kenny was a member of their safety team. Kenny enjoyed reading the Bible, fishing, watching sporting events, putting together jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, telling jokes and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Kenny leaves behind his wife Beverly Stewart of Brazil; daughter Jennifer Stewart of Brazil; two sons Aaron Stewart (Laura) of Staunton and Stephen Stewart of Brazil; grandchildren Jaicee, Kyler and Addison Stewart and special grandson Conner Czizek; brothers Edward Stewart (Pam) of Georgia and Jim Stewart (Becky) of Florida; nieces and nephew Melissa (Devin) Cress, Todd Stewart, Tracy Stewart, Brooke Stewart and Robin Stewart; mother and father-in-law David and Betty Gallez of Centerpoint; sisters-in-law Loucinda McIntire (Paul) and Joanna Gallez; brother-in-law Daniel Gallez; as well as many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Dorothy Stewart and his grandmother-in-law Gladys Cox.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 with Brother Gary Minor officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
