Native plants of Putnam County opens at PCM

Thursday, September 1, 2011

The Putnam County Museum invites the public to visit a new exhibit featuring Indiana native plants.

The outdoor exhibit consists of three raised flower boxes that adorn the museum's entrance and parking lot area.

The first-of-its-kind display at the museum is meant to educate and show off the natural history and richness of our state's flora.

The project developed under the leadership of Matthew White as an Eagle Scout project and is made possible with thanks to the Putnam County Community Foundation, Black Lumber Co., Greencastle Garden Club, McDonald's of Greencastle, Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department, Pingleton Sawmill Inc. and Barkley Farms Nurseries.

Also integral to the completion of the project were the volunteer efforts of Boy Scout Troop 99 and Cornerstone Baptist Church Men's Group and Barbara Lane.
