Walk for Life event set Sept. 10 at Big Walnut Sports Park

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

The Care Net Pregnancy Center of Putnam County will hold its annual Walk for Life on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Big Walnut Sports Park, beginning at shelter No. 3 across from the soccer fields.

Care Net opened June 1994. It is a non-profit Christian ministry that assists women who are facing unplanned pregnancies. The ministry also provides material assistance for families who are in need.

Funding is supported through donations of individuals, businesses, as well as churches throughout Putnam County. All proceeds of the walk will go toward benefiting Care Net.

The walk will only be two miles in order to keep it open for all ages and abilities. The two-mile walk does not require sponsorship of any walkers but if $200 or more is raised they will receive a free Walk for Life T-shirt. All donations will be tax-deductible.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Interested participants may call the CPC or stop by during office hours to receive a walker brochure.

Care Net is located on the west side of the courthouse square on the ground floor of the historic Granada Opera House. For information persons may call 653-6605.
