Clovers drop match to Patriots

SPENCER -- The Cloverdale volleyball team lost to Owen Valley Tuesday in four games, dropping to 6-3 on the season.

Lindsay Robson, Taylor Jones and Katie Fulkerson led the Clovers with six points each, followed by Paige Gruener with four and Adri Patterson with three. Bradanne Toney scored two points, while Mariah Oetken and Bristy Skiles added one point each.

Toney had a season-high 20 kills to lead Cloverdale, with Oetken adding nine and Jones adding four kills. Adding three kills were Gruener, Skiles and Patterson, with Fulkerson adding two kills.

Leading the team with three blocks was Toney, with Gruener adding one. Toney also had 18 digs, with Skiles, Robson and Jones adding six digs. Rebekah Jordan and Gruener chipped in four digs each, with Patterson adding one dig.

"We played flat tonight," CHS head coach Kathy Moore. "Our passing was sporadic and we had too many free balls. We look forward to the county tournament this weekend. It's always such an exciting tournament."

The Cloverdale junior varsity fell to Owen Valley in two games, moving to 7-2 on the season.
