INDIANAPOLIS -- The Greencastle girls' cross country team placed 12th with a total of 338 at the Ben Davis Invite Saturday. Westfield won the invite with a total of 65.

Colleen Weatherford was the Tiger Cubs' top finisher, placing eighth on the day with a time of 19:04. Weatherford's time was good enough to break her own school record and head coach Garry Anderson noted she raced right with the No. 1 finisher.

"The amazing ting about her race was that she stayed with the No. 1 girl -- Bobbie Burgess from West Lafayette -- until the last K. That was good to see at this time of year," Anderson said.

Emily Gill finished 59th on the day with a time of 20:34, while Kayla Cash was 81st with a time of 21:20. Megan Haynes placed 98th with a time of 21:55, with Paige Pickens finishing 102 with a time of 22:04 and Alex Stoffregen finishing 119th with a time of 23:07. Cheyenne Fauvergue posted a time of 24:58 and Sammy Haynes ran a 25:33.

"Our top five still need to work harder to be a bigger help to Colleen," Anderson said. "We just have to get the pack tighter to be able to get where we want to be later in the year.

"I think that will come with our senior leadership doing its job," he continued. "We have a very competitive atmosphere on our team at this tie and it is showing."
