Katherine Irene Finchum

Nov. 3, 1924-- Sept. 15, 2011

Mrs. Katherine Irene Finchum, age 86, Belle Union, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at the Millpond Health Campus.

Born Nov. 3, 1924 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Ralph and Agusta (Wallace) Secrest.

She married Woodrow J. Finchum on Feb. 17, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Sept, 6, 1987.

Mrs. Finchum had been a homemaker, a cook at the Belle Union Elementary, and had worked at the Lewis Trade Center in Eminence.

She was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church in Belle Union.

Survivors include her children, James F. (Karen) Finchum of Stilesville, Joseph (Darla) Finchum of New Carlisle, Ohio, Sharen (Stanley) Ryland of Coatesville, and Karen (Todd) Jones of Newville, Pa.; a sister, Elizabeth Lairmore of Fillmore; two brothers, Bill (Janet) Secrest of Greencastle and Dave (Joyce) Secrest of Altus, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Deanna Sue Finchum; and a brother, Freeman Secrest.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, Ind.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept.16.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
