Area 30 Career Center hosts 2011 Putnam County Area College Fair

Friday, September 23, 2011

Many students across the country have begun their last years of high school. Juniors and seniors are enjoying their "upper classman" status.

Along with that comes the responsibility of not just thinking about what they want to do when they grow up, but researching, planning and putting the wheels in motion to make such thoughts a reality.

The Putnam County Area College Fair, to be held 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Dixie Chopper Air Hotel and Conference Center at the Putnam County Airport in Greencastle, is the perfect opportunity to continue gathering information and begin planning for the future.

More than 40 colleges, universities and technical schools will have representatives available to answer any questions students and parents may have and provide information about a variety of topics, including admissions, programs of study, financial aid, scholarships, student life and more.

Indiana University, Purdue University, Butler University, Ball State University, Indiana State University, University of Southern Indiana, University of Indianapolis, Lincoln Tech, DePauw University, Ivy Tech Community College, The Chef's Academy, Wyo Tech, Brown Mackie College, Sullivan University, Marian University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Oakland City University, Han-over College, Anderson University, IUPUI, Trine University, Wabash Valley College, Vincennes University, Franklin College, DeVry Institute and Indiana Tech -- just to name a few -- will be participating in the college fair.

In addition to the college representatives, also on hand will be resource people from the Putnam County Community Foundation, The Knoy Resource Center, Indiana Youth Institute -- College and Career Planning, and ISM College Planning to share information that could help with the process of choosing the right college and figuring out how to finance that education.

All students and parents are invited and encouraged to attend the college fair.
