Members of Pals on the Go and Cloverdale Daytime Darlings are hosting the 2012 Achievement Night for Putnam County Extension Homemakers.

The annual celebration is a time for recognizing the work and achievements of the more than 20 clubs that make up the local organization and a time to honor members who had 100 percent attendance during the past program year.

The program will be held in the East Auditorium of the community building at the Fairgrounds. Refreshments will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. with the program scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

The entertainment for this year's event is being provided by Brenda Gottula, a former Extension Homemaker County President and Extension Educator, Jackie Baumann. They will be sharing a fun program entitled "Life is Too Short Not to Eat Dessert First -- at Least Occasionally." The light hearted program that takes a look at ways to get more out or life, focuses more on making your days count than on counting your days. The program was developed for and first presented at the 2010 Home and Family Conference at Purdue University.

Bonnie Bryan, the District Representative for the nine-county Terre Haute District, will also be on hand to help celebrate achievements of the local organization and to share information about future plans for celebrating the 100 year anniversary of Indiana Extension Homemakers Association (IEHA) in 2013.

All local members, guests and anyone with an interest in learning more about Putnam County Extension Homemakers are encouraged to attend. The program is free and open to the public.

The mission of IEHA is ,"To strengthen families through continuing education, leadership development and volunteer community support." The IEHA state motto for the current year is "Treasure Our Past, Embrace Our Future."

Local county president Dorothy Wells has chosen the theme for "Together We Can Make It Happen" for the 2011-12 program year.

The extension office is still taking registrations for the fall series of Dining with Diabetes Classes until Sept. 30 or when the class is full.
