Wednesday, September 28, 2011

MONROVIA -- The North Putnam volleyball team fell to Monrovia 25-23, 25-13 and 25-14.

Samantha Lucas led the team with four kills, with Morgan Robinson adding two blocks and four aces. Kelsey Reed had four assists on the night.

"We didn't play bad, we just didn't play our best," head coach Jill Schreiber said. "Kensy Asbell had a good game tonight. She was hitting well and was put in the setters position and came through for us. Samantha Lucas also played well. She was hitting tonight like she hasn't for a while. She even had a back row attack.

"We just couldn't get it all together at the same time. Monrovia is a good team, a couple really good servers, but I don't feel like it's something we couldn't handle. We just didn't play our best volleyball," she added.

Schreiber also noted the team had to battle back from some big deficits during the match and said things would be easier if the Cougars could come out strong, things would be a lot easier.
