Sheriff's Department

* Sept. 28, 9:08 p.m.: Tommy E. Fleek, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 near the Putnam County Fairgrounds when he lost control of the vehicle while rounding a corner.

Fleek left the roadway on the left side and hit the guardrail.

Damage: $1,001-$2,500

* Sept. 28, 9:26 p.m.: Martin K. Burris, New Maysville, was south bound on CR 725E approaching CR 1000N when the dark and wet conditions apparently caused Burris to veer of the road while attempting to turn onto 1000N.

Upon leaving the road on the south side, the vehicle made contact with four brace wires attached to a power pole. The vehicle damaged two of the wires before landing on its side.

Damage: $1,000-$2,500

* Sept. 29, 11:10 p.m.: Danny G. McKee, Groveland, was driving eastbound on U.S. 36 when a dog wandered into oncoming traffic.

McKee hit the brakes and avoided the dog by coming to a complete stop. However, Elijah L. Church, the driver immediately behind McKee, could not stop in time to avoid a collision. Church hit McKee in the rear end of the car.

Damage: $1,000-$2,500

* Oct. 1, 5:40 a.m.: Shane N. Leroy, Greencastle, was traveling westbound on Albin Pond Road near CR 100E when a stray animal allegedly ran into his path, causing Leroy to lose control of the vehicle and drive into a ditch.

Leroy was not at the scene of the crash when officers arrived. He had gone to a friend's house at 810 N. Madison. Officers tested him for blood alcohol level, and he registered a .13 at the scene. Leroy was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Damage: $2,501-$5,000

* Oct. 3, 5:55 p.m.: Martin S. Fordice, Bainbridge was driving westbound on U.S. 36 near CR 600W when he activated his turn signal to turn north into a driveway.

Keith C. Kromwiede attempted to pass Fordice, but instead hit Fordice's vehicle on the driver's side. Kromwiede received injuries at the site of the accident.

Damage: $10,000-$25,000

Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

-- At 2:12 p.m. Tuesday, Matthew Lee Gist, 28, Rapid City, S.D., was booked into the jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and bond revocation.

-- At 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, Vance Anthony Davis, 26, Cloverdale, was arrested by Cloverdale Police and lodged in the PCJ for contempt of court.

-- At 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, Kevin Alexander Faucett, 18, Cloverdale, was booked into the jail for domestic battery.

-- At 12:13 p.m. Monday, Kayla Renee Pierce, 18, Reelsville, was lodged in the jail for probation violation.

-- At 11:23 p.m. Sunday, Jesse William Shumaker, Spencer, was booked into the jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

-- At 1:18 p.m. Sunday, Mike Todd Johnson, 44, Ladoga, was incarcerated for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

-- At 7 a.m. Sunday, Rebecca Lynn Hubbard, 26, Indianapolis, was lodged in the jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

-- At 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Daryl Lee Short, 31, Clayton, was lodged in the PCJ for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication.

-- At 12 p.m. Friday, Fred Leroy Legrand, 68, Russellville, was booked into the jail on a court order.

-- At 12:26 a.m. Friday, Michael Richard Connelly, 36, Cloverdale, was incarcerated for domestic battery.

-- At 8:15 p.m. Sept. 29, Gary L. Croan, 46, Fillmore, was booked into the jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

-- At 7:10 p.m. Sept. 29, Cody S. Collis, 22, Waynetown, was lodged in the jail on a theft charge.

-- At 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29, Johnathan Hagan, 21, Indianapolis, was booked in for failure to appear in court.

City Police

Four people were arrested recently by Greencastle City Police.

Two men were arrested on theft charges at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday at the Greencastle Kroger store on Indianapolis Road.

Officer Matt Huffman arrested Jonathon David Eversole, 21, Greencastle, and Timothy N. Riddle, 18, Greencastle, for the alleged theft of Monster Energy Drinks.

Eversole and Riddle were lodged in the Putnam County Jail Tuesday night.

-- At 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Joni Sue Bowling, 24, Greencastle, was arrested on the Speedway gas station parking lot on Indianapolis Road by Officer Albert Epple.

Bowling was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement and domestic battery.

-- At 11:21 p.m. Monday, Derek Wayne Mason, 25, Reelsville, was arrested by Reserve Officer Heath Smiley on a Bartholomew County warrant.

One minor accident was investigated Tuesday by GPD.

The one-car mishap occurred on the parking lot of the former Lobills store on Indianapolis Road as David Norris Jr., 20, Bainbridge, was driving a 1994 Mazda through the lot and was distracted by a passenger, resulting in his vehicle striking the concrete foundation of a light pole.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500 by Officer Darrel Bunten.
