Sectional volleyball action starts Oct. 18 for local teams

The pairings for the 2011 IHSAA volleyball sectional were announced Monday and we learned two county schools will duke it out in the first round in hopes of moving on.

Cloverdale and South Putnam will hook up in the second game of the Class 2A No. 44 Cascade sectional opener. The Eagles or Clovers will face the winner of Speedway and Monrovia in the first game of the sectional semifinal.

North Putnam will head North to the Class 3A No. 25 Lebanon sectional and will face North Montgomery in the first game of the second day of the tournament. The winner will face either Frankfort or Crawfordsville in the second game of the sectional semifinal.

Greencastle will go the other direction for the Class 3A No. 28 Owen Valley sectional. They begin action against West Vigo in the second game on in the opening round, with the winner advancing to face either Brown County or South Vermillion in the first game of the sectional semifinal.
