On hand to receive a $1,500 donation from the Vectren Foundation's Troy Carson is Christy Glass, firefighter and fire prevention officer of the Greencastle Fire Department. The Friends of the Greencastle Fire Department help provide dollars that make fire prevention programs, and materials available to educate children, teachers, parents, and local businesses within the community.

The Friends of the Greencastle Fire Department organization was formed in the spring of 2001 and is comprised of people in the community who want to increase awareness of the Fire Department. Their mission is fire prevention and education and they have raised awareness of the Fire Department in the community"

Fire prevention officer Christy Glass of the Greencastle Fire Department recently received $1,500 from the Vectren Foundation. The grant was used to purchase C.I.N.O.S.E program books for the fifth grade students during Fire Prevention week held in October.

The C.I.N.O.S.E books consist of multiple fire safety tips, CPR, first aid and activities for the students to go through during the program that Glass has developed for the fifth grade students.

Through the Vectren Foundation, they help improve the quality of life in communities that they serve by sharing their time through volunteer efforts, their expertise through leadership and their financial support through grants to charitable organizations. The Friends of the Greencastle Fire Department, the members of the Greencastle Fire Department and the fifth grade students extend their gratitude for awarding $1,500 from the Vectren Foundation Grant to help fund the C.I.N.O.S.E program.
