Rosamond Dillon Carter, 87, lifelong resident of Monrovia, passed away Nov. 3, 2011, in her home.

She was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Morgan County to the late Lane Fuson and Inez (McCracken) Dillon.

Rose graduated from Monrovia High School in 1941.

She worked for a period of time at Diamond Chain in Indianapolis, and at Miller's Merry Manor and Sunshine Park in Mooresville.

Rosamond remained very active with the school by working in various positions there for more than 27 years before retiring.

She dedicated her time to the community and rarely missed high school basketball games.

She was a member of the Monroe-Gregg School Board of Trustees and the Monrovia Eastern Star. Rose was an avid Indiana University fan.

Survivors include her son, Rocky Carter (Christy) of Monrovia; daughter, Roxann Shuee of Monrovia; brothers, Jack L. Dillon of Mooresville, and Fred Dillon (Mary Alice) of Mooresville; sister, Kay Horner (Richard "Dick"); grandchildren, Leah Maybrier (Wally), Lindsay DeWeese (Nick), Derek Carter, Zach and Zane Shuee; great-grandchildren, Ian and Laney Maybrier, Marissa and Olivia DeWeese.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rosamond J. Carter Memorial Fund to benefit the Monrovia High School Basketball Program C/O Citizens Bank, 205 S. Chestnut St., Monrovia, IN 46157.
