GMS eighth graders remain perfect on the season

On Monday, the Greencastle boys eighth grade basketball team made it seven in a row with a win over the visiting Cloverdale Clovers.

The Tiger Cubs jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Brandon Gierke scored six of his game high nine points and was helped out by Jacob Sanders with four, in the opening quarter.

Greencastle took a 24-5 half time lead into the locker room, then coasted in the second half to a 41-14 final score. Balanced scoring allowed nine Tiger Cubs to make it into the scoring column.

On the boards, Cole Edgar pulled down seven rebounds and Anthony Rossok grabbed six. Ryan Coble and Zach Wilkerson each dished out four assists on the evening, while Coble, Brayden White and Jacob Lewis recorded three steals each.

Cloverdale was paced by Cooper Neese with seven points, all of which came in the second half.
