City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police.

-- At 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Corey Reeves, 23, Fillmore, was arrested by Officer Darrel Bunten at Greencastle Police headquarters on a warrant for theft.

-- At 6:30 p.m. Friday, Christopher Leathers, 28, Greencastle, was arrested at an Avenue B residence by Officer Bunten on an active warrant.

Three recent property-damage accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- At 12:46 a.m. Sunday, Angela Thompson, 41, Brazil, was backing a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe from a parking space in the Vine Street lot when the vehicle clipped a parked, unattended 1999 Dodge Ram, owned by Shawn Pingleton, Greencastle.

Capt. Charles Inman estimated total damage in the accident at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 8:30 a.m. Friday, a one-vehicle accident was reported behind the Walmart supercenter on Indianapolis Road.

George Dobbs, 72, Crawfordsville, was westbound, driving a 2011 Peterbilt semi when the rig drifted right and hit a yellow protective post, damaging the right front of the trailer.

Capt. Mike Hanlon estimated damage in excess of $10,000.

-- At 12:35 p.m. Nov. 29, Joe Cloe Jr., 71, Greencastle, was stopped westbound on Indianapolis Road at 10th Street when his 2000 Dodge Dakota was struck from behind by a 1998 GMC Sonoma, driven by Brandon Wingler, 24, Coatesville.

Wingler said his brakes caused the vehicle to skid on the wet pavement and he could not stop the truck in time to avoid a collision.

Sgt. Chris Jones estimated total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

Five recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Andrew Pickens, 25, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham on Bloomington Street near Casey's for an expired license plate.

-- At 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Thomas Gorham III, 31, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Matt Huffman at Indianapolis Road and Longcastle Drive for no operator's license.

-- At 2:37 a.m. Saturday, Richard Satterfield Jr., 42, Brazil, was cited by Reserve Officer David Clodfelter for disregarding an automatic signal at 10th Street and Indianapolis Road.

-- At 12:16 a.m. Saturday, Cheraka Smith-Cooley, 20, Indianapolis, was cited by Officer Eastham at Bloomington Street and Veterans Highway for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 12:33 a.m. Friday, Christopher Clark, 21, Springfield, Ohio, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:05 p.m. Kimberly Steadmon, 32, Greencastle, was held for contempt of court.

At 7:20 p.m. Shane Randall Kilgore, 35, Cloverdale, was arrested for parole violation.

Sheriff's Department

* On Monday, Nov. 5 at 8:25 a.m. Kathryn Gill, 24, Greencastle, was backing out of her driveway on Indiana Street in Greencastle in a 2008 Dodge Caliber. She didn't see the 2001 Kia Optima owned by Tama Lockard, Rensselaer, parked in the road and backed into it.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

* At 3:41 p.m. Sarah M. Woodworth, 17, Greencastle, was northbound on Manhattan Road in a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. She went through an S curve in which she lost control and entered a yard, hitting a fence that was connected to a tree. It then bounced off and hit another tree.

Damage $1,001-$2,500

* At 5:40 p.m. Jarra A. Newlin, 30, Bainbridge, was northwest-bound on County Road 300 East in a 2004 Lexus RS 330 when she hit a deer.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8:16 p.m. Jonell Weir, 42, Roachdale, was northbound on County Road 500 West in a 2002 Mitsubishi LLS. She looked back to talk to her kids in the back seat, causing her to veer off the road.

She was unable to correct the car due to the wet roadway, instead going into the ditch.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two dispatches on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

At 10:19 a.m. they responded to a medical assist on County Road 825 East off of SR 240 but were disregarded en route at 10:25 a.m.

At 3:38 p.m. GFD was dispatched to a medical assist at 515 Elm St. Cleared 3:45 p.m.
