Farm bureau

Putnam County is one of four counties to receive special recognition for their efforts in public relations and education at the recent State Farm Bureau Convention at Indianapolis. Putnam Farm Bureau Vice President Steve Cash (right) is congratulated by Indiana FB President Don Villwock, along with representatives of Henry, Lake and Parke counties. While the goal was to send five news items and meet once with local media to share a list of farmer contacts, Putnam, Parke, Henry and Lake all went above and beyond by using a variety of media tactics, including letters to the editor, public service announcements, advisories and giving interviews, as well as making a consistent effort to create a strong relationship with their local media contacts. Fifty-four counties met all five Farm Bureau goals during the period, Oct. 1, 2010- Sept. 30, 2011.
