Jan. 22 Greencastle event to celebrate birthday of the Lego

Saturday, January 7, 2012

The Lego Building Block was born on Jan. 28, 1958, and in honor of the occasion, the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the birthday of the Lego.

Participants can enjoy an opportunity to "free build" with the department's collection of building blocks piled high on the floor of City Hall. Cake and ice cream will also be served.

The party is set for 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22 at Greencastle City Hall. Admission is free, but financial donations are welcome to help resupply the department's Lego Building Blocks.

Park Director Rod Weinschenk is also asking anyone whose children no longer use their Legos to donate the blocks to the park department for use in such events.

Registration forms for the program can be picked up at Greencastle City Hall or Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department. The forms can also be returned to Greencastle City Hall, 1 N. Locust St., Greencastle, IN 46135, or by mail to Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department.

For more information, interested persons may contact Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department Assistant Director Troy Scott at 653-3395 or tscott@cityofgreencastle.com.
