Boil order in place for some South 43 Water customers

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

South 43 Water Association Inc., serving customers in southern Putnam County, has experienced a water main break near Deer Creek in the association's south line.

Customers in that area are not expected to have water service for the remainder of the day on Wednesday. It was expected to take the rest of the day to repair the water line break.

A boil order is necessary for customers south of the Deer Creek crossing along U.S. 231 South and customers with addresses of East U.S. 40.

Customers with addresses of West U.S. 40, including Putnamville, are served from a different direction, via South 43's west line, and are not included in the boil order.

South 43 customers north of Greencastle also are not affected.

All South 43 customers served by the south line water main will be under an extended boil order until further notice.

A boil order means customers should boil any water to be used for cooking or drinking for several minutes before consuming.
