Members of the Roachdale Elementary School M.A.T.H. Bowl team that captured the recent Putnam County invitational are (front, from left): Camryn Albers, Cari Strasburger, Samantha Chaney, Abby Kimes and Emily Fink; second row: Olivia Denny, Adam Bonebrake, Brett Asher and Lainey Willis; third row: Jake Powell, Lilly Brown, Coach Patty Jones, Coach Linda Jones, Bryce Smith and Blake Reed; and back row: Jordan Taylor and Jarrek Montgomery.

In a contest that required tie-breaker questions to determine the winner, Roachdale Elementary's M.A.T.H. Bowl team has edged out the squad from Tzouanakis Intermediate School in Greencastle to win this year's Putnam County Invitational.

The competition, which has been hosted by Tzouanakis for several years, gives county teams a chance to experience the formal competition format before competing in the state competition at Central Elementary on March 1.

The contest consists of four rounds with seven multiple-choice questions in each round. A squad from each team has 30, 45 or 60 seconds to determine the answer to each question.

Other elementary teams participating in the recent invitational contest were Bainbridge, Central, Fillmore and Reelsville.
