Hunter education class slated at Roachdale Christian Church

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

ROACHDALE -- A Hunter Education Class is scheduled for late March at the Roachdale Christian Church.

The class will cover three days -- Tuesday, March 27, Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31. The Tuesday and Friday sessions are set for 6-9 p.m. with the Saturday program from 8 a.m. until noon.

The class will be facilitated by the longstanding hunter education instructor Danny Burdine of Roachdale.

It is required that participants attend all three class sessions. A test will be administered at the end of the final class.

Any students involved in the Putnam County 4-H Archery program are required to have a hunter education certification, and this program can fulfill that requirement.

Also, in the State of Indiana, in order to purchase a hunting license, anyone born after Dec. 31, 1986 must successfully complete a hunter education course offered by the DNR.

A hunter education course is designed to be a pro-active program which offers its students the opportunity to learn about the safety aspect of enjoying the outdoors. The course offers knowledge on Indiana laws, safe firearm and archery equipment handling techniques, safe hunting practices, basic survival techniques and more.

The program is not only for kids but is also designed to accommodate interested parents whom are encouraged to attend with their children.

Anyone would like more information about the class or show interest in any upcoming classes may contact Danny Burdine directly at (765) 366-2997.
