North Putnam choir students compete at Solo and Ensemble

On Saturday, Jan. 28, Avon High School hosted the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest.

North Putnam left with 25 gold medalist events and nine silver medalist events. Three North Putnam students earned the privilege of advancing to the state contest, which was held on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Perry Meridian High School.

Earning gold medal were Sierra Witty, Natalie McFadden, Logan Grim, Emma Holsapple, Gwen Mazur, Brody Downey, Alanna Nunez, Samantha Jarboe, Bronwyn Spencer, Alan Skillern, Baylee Bowling, Ali Elmore, Taylor Styers, Jacob Buchanan, Tirzah Frieje, Emily Harrington, Sarah Zehner, Jerica Bean, Kara Phillips, Cheyanna Strube, Jenna Olson, Samantha Flannelly; "Ottinger Ensemble" that includes Dawson Ottinger, Brittany Garo, Lauren Freije and Kayla Sarr; "Foltz Ensemble" that includes Andi Foltz, Miranda Milliken, Rachael Lubinski and Jenny Zehner; and "Centeno Ensemble" that includes Chasity Centeno, Jerica Bean, Taylor Styers and Gwen Mazur.

Earning a silver medal were Alex Valdes, Alexis Sims, Amy Olson, Jasmyne Reed, Charity Teckenbrock, Corrine Callan; "Callan Ensemble" that includes Corinne Callan, Miranda Milliken and Jenny Zehner; "Olson Ensemble" that includes Jenna Olson, Samantha Flannelly, Rachael Lubinski, Andi Foltz, Elizabeth Alford and Morgan Smith; and "Skillern Ensemble" that includes Ellese Cox, Jerica Bean, Alan Skillern and Glen Schmick.

Baylee Bowling, Jacob Buchanan, and Alan Skillern advanced to the state contest. Baylee and Alan received gold medals and Jacob received a silver.
