North Putnam Middle School boy swimmers win county crown

North Putnam Middle School swimmers Andy Rogers and Sydnie Kanne were recently honored as West Central Conference champs.

The North Putnam Middle School boys' swim team recently captured the county title by defeating Greencastle 102-74. The North Putnam boys' defeated South Putnam earlier in the season.

Placing first from NPMS were the 200 medley relay team of Joe Davis, Andy Rogers, Bailey Allen and David Howard; Jonah Creamean (200 free), Rogers (100 breaststroke, 100 IM), Howard (50 free), Allen (100 free) Davis (400 free), the 200 free relay team of Allen, Creamean, Howard and Rogers, and the boys 400 free relay team of Davis, Allen, Creamean and Trevor Sheldon.

The North Putnam Middle School girls' swim team lost to Greencastle 53-130. Placing first from NPMS was the 200 free relay team of Sydnie Kanne, Lexi Snedeker, Nikita Miller and Chloe LaPierre.

Kanne, a North Putnam Middle School eighth grader, broke the 50 backstroke record with a time of 35.94. The record was previously held by Halsey Foltz (36.22, 2008).

The NPMS girls swim team placed third in the WCC meet. Kanne was the WCC champion in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:18.21.

The North Putnam Middle School boys' swim team placed second in the WCC meet. Rogers, NPMS eighth grader, was the WCC champion in both the 100 IM (1:19.65) and 100 breaststroke (1:34.57).
