Barbara Jane Jones

Barbara Jane Jones, 68, of Roachdale, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

Barbara was born on June 17, 1943 in Plainville to Chester and Garnett McCallian Edwards.

She graduated from Plainville High School in 1961 and the Chicago School of Beauty in 1963.

She was North Putnam treasurer for 15 years and worked for the town of Roachdale for 19 years.

She was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, She was the proud mother of two and grandmother of six. She enjoyed painting, flower gardening, home decorating, landscaping, shopping, fine cars, high school girlfriends, family gatherings, attending grandchildren's sports and concert performances.

She raised two children influenced six grandchildren and instilled a self-responsibility, work ethic and respect for others.

She married Larry Jones on Dec. 17, 1966 in Plainville, and he survives.

Other survivors include son Kent (Shawnda) Jones; daughter Melinda (Jones) Cupp; grandchildren Brett Cupp, Parker Jones, Lake Jones Leja Cupp, Milan Jones and Carter Jones; two brothers, Chester Edwards and Steve Edwards; and two sisters, Brenda Beaumont and Fara Stalker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at the Roachdale Presbyterian Church with Rev. Alan Small officiating.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 23 at the church. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.
