Eagles rebound for win over Warriors
MARSHALL -- The South Putnam girls' tennis team rebounded from its season opening loss to Greencastle with a 3-2 win over Turkey Run Wednesday.
On the singles side, Ericka Minor won in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 (7-5) to give the Eagles their only singles victory.
South Putnam swept the doubles matches. Caitlyn Boyce and Madison Cash defeated Linda McFarland and Hanna Delp 6-1, 6-2 to win the No. 1 doubles match. At No. 2 doubles, Kyndra Boyce and Kelly Hayden defeated Bri Hutton and Courtney Hardman 6-1, 6-1 to give South Putnam the win.
In junior varsity action, Kassie Rains won in singles action and the doubles team of Miriah Cherry and Megan Gutherie won as well.
"(It was) a great way to come back from a loss," head coach Johnny Briones said. "Minor was down in both sets 2-5. Proud of how she came back to win.
"No 1 doubles is playing well. (It's a) great way to start the season."
