Jeff Blaydes

Jeff Blaydes is seeking the Democratic nomination for Putnam County Commissioner in District 1.

Blaydes said he would like to thank the many people who contacted him offering support after reading of his candidacy in the Banner Graphic.

Blaydes is a fourth generation Putnam County native. Along with two brothers, Blaydes was raised in Roachdale. He attended Roachdale Schools from kindergarten through his sophomore year and graduated from North Putnam in 1971.

Blaydes then graduated from Purdue University and obtained an Indiana teacher license in 1975. He then worked teaching mathematics and coaching, including two years at North Putnam.

Since 1980, Blaydes has worked for CSX Transportation as a railroad official. He currently works in the engineering department, supporting maintenance initiatives across the CSXT network.

Like most people in his family, Blaydes said he does not like to waste his, or anyone else's, money.

Blaydes cares about Putnam County and its residents. He is a fiscal conservative and has vast experience dealing with difficult issues.

He said what separates him from other candidates is that he is not an insider in Putnam County politics. As a result, Blaydes believes he will be able to view issues and make informed decisions involving an additional group of Putnam County Residents.

"We have additional opportunities to accomplish more with less," Blaydes said. "Together everyone accomplishes more."

As Putnam County Commissioner Jeff Blaydes will strive to continue the effort to reduce our tax burden and enhance our county's assets.

Blaydes looks forward to discussing the concerns and ideas of Putnam County residents in the days ahead.

Blaydes will be on the Democrat ballot in the Tuesday, May 8 primary election.
