His performing credits include Eddie Harris, Les McCann, Shelley Manne, Ira Sullivan, Catherine Russell, Claude "Fiddler" Williams, Bobby Shew and many others. His pop performing credits range from Sammy Davis Jr. to Clay Aiken.

Portolese's debut CD, "Transparent" is on the Southport label and was released in 1994. His second release, "Last Call," also on Southport, was released in February 2000. His latest, "Plectrum Jazz Guitar Solos" was released in November 2010.

Portolese founded the Jazz Program for Midwest Young Artists, a youth music organization located at Fort Sheridan, Ill.
