Floyd Freeman, owner of Smart Tech Homes, looks down into one of the in-ground Granger ISS tornado shelters recently delivered to his Cloverdale business for sale.

CLOVERDALE -- With Indiana among several states experiencing widespread recent tornado devastation this spring, Smart Tech Homes of Indiana, located in Cloverdale, has partnered with Granger Plastics Co. to offer Granger ISS Tornado Shelters locally.

Smart Tech Homes, located at 504 N. Main St., Cloverdale, recently took a semi shipment of six shelters and has 12 more on order, owner Floyd Freeman has announced.

Freeman and manager Dawn Montgomery said the recent tornado destruction -- also experienced this spring in Alabama, Oklahoma, Kentucky Tennessee, Ohio and Texas -- has increased the demand for Indiana Storm Shelters.

The in-ground safety shelters (the Granger ISS Tornado Shelter) offer a body with durable construction of nearly-indestructible polyethylene and articulating handrails for easy entry. The capacity of the shelter is up to five seated adults.

Granger notes that the in-ground shelter can be installed in most backyards in less than half a day and can be easily incorporated into new home construction.

The in-ground safety shelter can be placed under the garage floor, patio or even added under a closet inside the home.

The shelter has been tested by Texas Tech University to withstand impact debris from an F5 tornado.

Granger Plastics offers a lifetime warranty against cracking, leaking, rotting, mold, mildew or deterioration of any kind.

Smart Tech Homes services all of Indiana, as well as Illinois and surrounding areas. Smart Tech specializes in modular homes, manufactured homes, mobile homes and cabins, as well as sheds, gazebos and pergolas to fit most backyards.
