CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale boys' golf team earned its fifth win of the season, defeating Clay City 187-198.

Colte Tomlinson led Cloverdale with a 44, followed by Brody Pfaff with 46 and Rylan Mattocks with a 47. Aaron Whitlock shot a 49, while Zach Hall fired a 50 and Freddy Fislar shot a 56.

"We showed some slight improvement over last week," CHS head coach Doug Wokoun said. "We are still struggling with consistency in shotmaking and judgement.

"Colte played better than he has recently, which we desperately needed," he continued. "Brody and Rylan did some good things, but are still trying to find consistency in their play. Aaron slipped a little but still managed to get some things accomplished."

Cloverdale returns to action when they host the Putnam County tournament Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

SOUTH PUTNAM

South Putnam's boys' golf squad defeated Owen Valley and Monrovia Monday night at Oak Ridge Golf Course by scores of 173-179-209.

Derek Chestnut and Justin Berry shared medalist honors with rounds of 41, followed by Alex Eickhoff's 45 and rounds of 46 by Alex Kelly and Sam Gould.

Eagle head coach Brian McClure said that Berry's play might be crucial to Eagle hopes in the future.

"We're happy to see Justin improving and shooting a 41 for us tonight," McClure said. "We will need a contribution from him most likely if we are going to compete in the county and WCC matches."

South Putnam competes in the Putnam County match Thursday.

GREENCASTLE

The Greencastle boys' golf team defeated Northview 148-154 on the road Monday.

Alec Davis led the way for GHS with his medalist round of 35. Brad Haussin and Luke Brotherton followed closely with rounds of 37. Tanner Dean and Raymond Stinson both shot 39, with Derick Thomas shooting a 48.

"Very consistent play from everyone," GHS head coach Steve Paquin said. "We played the ball down in the rough and rolled it in the fairways, so it was important to hit the ball in the fairway to maximize the lie to hit good shots. Alec had a very good round with a score of 35 even though he had 18 putts for the nine holes. Brad and Luke had 37 followed by Tanner and Raymond with 39. We're beginning to concentrate better and keep our focus throughout the whole round."

In junior varsity action, Greencastle fell to the Knights 169-193.

Adam Jayne led the junior varsity with a round of 44. Wataru Otaki shot a 46, with Carl Basile shooting a 48 and Justin Baxter firing a 55.

Greencastle returns to action in the Putnam County tournament Thursday at Clover Meadows at 4:30 p.m.
