City Police

Greencastle City Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred Tuesday night on the city's East Side.

A 2008 Chevrolet HHR, owned by Hal Salisbury II, Bainbridge, sustained an estimated $1,000-$2,500 damage in an accident occurring just before 9 p.m. on the parking lot at either Burger King or Dollar General on Indianapolis Road.

Salisbury was initially at the restaurant, and then went across the road to Dollar General, where he discovered damage to the passenger-side rear bumper of his car as he was about to leave the parking lot.

White paint transfer was apparent on the Salisbury vehicle, Officer Eric Vaughan reported. However, no matching vehicle was found on either lot.

-- A one-car accident at 12:37 p.m. Monday on the parking lot at York Automotive, 1501 Indianapolis Rd., resulted in an estimated $2,500-$5,000 damage to the vehicle and the dealership building.

Hobert Knowling, 68, Roachdale, had reportedly test-driven a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, owned by York, and was sitting in the vehicle in front of the showroom with one foot on the brake and one foot on the accelerator, Officer Ed Wilson reported.

Somehow the car lurched forward into the building, breaking the window glass and causing other structural damage, Wilson reported.

One recent arrest was reported by GPD officers.

-- At 5:06 p.m. Monday, Crystal Nauman, 33, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Wilson after he stopped her vehicle in the 1200 block of Bloomington Street.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Nauman is facing a charge of driving with a suspended license with prior offense. She was also held on two warrants, failure to appear in court from Putnam County and a Hendricks County warrant for probation violation.

One speeding citation was issued early Wednesday by city officers.

-- At 3:06 a.m., Kent Booe, 35, Clay City, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.
