Reed - 50th Anniversary

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Ronald and Jo Ellen (Harmless) Reed celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, May 5. Their children invite friends and family to join them for a celebration on Saturday, May 12 from 4-9 p.m. at the New Winchester School Grounds on State Road 75 South.

Come and enjoy relaxation and fellowship with them. The dress code is casual, so bring lawn chairs and plan to have a wonderful day reminiscing. If it is raining, join them at Whitestone Christian Church, located west of New Winchester on U.S. 36.

They were married on May 5, 1962 at New Winchester Christian Church. Ron is a 1960 graduate of New Winchester High School and Jo Ellen a 1961 graduate of New Winchester High School.

On Feb. 2, 1963 they welcomed their first child, a son, Joe Allen, who is now married to Pam and they have two daughters, Sarah and Alyssa and live in Avon.

On Sept. 7, 1964 they welcomed their baby girl Ronda Gale, who is now married to Dan and they have three children, Jean Nichole who has since given them their first great-grand daughter Neena, Allen Keith and Carolyn Joellen, and they reside in Danville.

Ron and Jo Ellen started out in an apartment Danville where they lived for the first few years of their marriage before buying their first house just north of New Winchester on State Road 75. They remained there until moving to Brownsburg in August 1981.

They have since moved back to New Winchester and built a house on a lot adjacent to Wilfred and Louise's property, who now live at the Hearth in Prestwick.

They belong to Whitestone Christian Church, where Ron is a deacon and Jo Ellen is the church treasurer. Ron worked for more than 30 years at Detroit Diesel/Allison, where he retired in 1991 and now works part-time at the Hendricks County Fair Grounds.

Jo Ellen has worked for several different banking systems, retiring from the North Salem State Bank in 2009. She now spends a great deal of her time helping take care of her parents and enjoying all their grandchildren.

Ron belongs to Groveland Masonic Lodge and both Ron and Jo Ellen belong to Groveland OES.

No gifts please, but cards would be wonderful.
